In 2018, Swedish professional racing team Cyan Racing has announced its comeback to the WTCR championship. Joining efforts with the sports subdivision of Geely Automobile, the team has designed four Lynk & Co 03 TCR vehicles to use in the racing series. However, the contract it signed with Geely also included a provision according to which the two parties were to produce a street-legal version of the Lynk & Co 03. The car is still very much a work in progress, but we can at least throw a glance at its early prototype.
The Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept is essentially a purebred racecar converted into a road-going saloon/sedan. As such, it gets to inherit the performance brakes, the disc-based limited-slip differential, the custom-built suspension with adjustable shocks, and the roll cage from its predecessor. The same applies to the sequential transmission with the paddle shifter, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. According to the team, the latter will receive a substantial boost from its original 350 hp (261 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lbft) of torque, thus far estimated at 528 hp (394 kW) and 504 Nm (372 lbft).
The street-legal car will accelerate 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and top out at 310 km/h (193 mph). The prototype model only weighs 1,287 kilos (2,837 lb.), also improving its overall dynamics.
It remains uncertain which of the abovementioned features – if any – will actually make it into series. The more the car takes after its track-going version, the more expensive it is going to be. Therefore, all we can do right now is wait until the final production version goes live.
