British household appliances manufacturer Dyson is actually considering expanding its product range to include all-electric vehicles (EVs), Autocar reports. To that end, the company has applied for registration of the brand name “Digital Motors”.
According to a press release by Dyson, the company will design and build cars using its own resources. The first vehicle should enter the market in 2020. The developer team currently includes 400 people, with 300 more expected to join in on the project later.
Over 2,500,000,000 USD has been allocated for the project so far. The company plans to spend a half of this sum on battery R&D and the other half on the car production.
The first EV by Digital Motors will be released in a limited series of just 10,000 copies.
