Austro Daimler makes a comeback at a Concorso d'Eleganza show

The recently concluded Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este show has drawn in quite a large number of memorable and unique cars, with the resurrected Austro Daimler brand making a bold comeback with this Shooting Brake model called the Bergmeister ADR 630 Shooting Grand. The plug-in hybrid car boasts lightning-fast acceleration and has an enormous driving range.

The vehicle is based on an aluminum space-frame chassis and weighs 1,650 kilograms (3,637 lbs). Its powertrain, called SERIPA, incorporates a six-cylinder gasoline engine and three electric motors. Their resulting power output borders on 1,200 horsepower (895 kilowatts) and 1,600 Newton-meters (1,180 pound-feet) of torque. Sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) occurs in a breezy 2.5 seconds.

Reportedly, the car can run as far as 250 kilometers (155 miles) on its battery alone. The total driving range is manufacturer-estimated at 1,000 km (621 miles).

Stylistically, the Autro Daimler Bergmeister ADR 630 Shooting Grand is an homage to a vintage car with the same name that used to be produced between 1931 and 1934. The similarities include the elongated hood, the roofline, and the glass.

Austro Daimler will most likely be releasing a limited series of cars based on this prototype. More details will follow later.
