Estonian startup to crowdfund a three-wheel vintage car series

Sometimes four wheels is just one wheel too many, don’t you think? The Estonian startup Nobe, which has designed and developed a vintage three-wheel electric vehicle model, would certainly agree with the above saying. The company is currently launching a crowdfunding campaign to try and get its design into series production.

If all goes well, the Nobe 100 Concept will be present at the Paris International Motor Show in the coming October. All we have right now is a full-size mockup of the vehicle and its industrial 3D model.

The founder of the enterprise admits that he had initially envisaged a fashionable EV with an exterior design like that of the Volkswagen Beetle or the Messerschmitt “Kabinenroller”. In contrast, the final sketches of Nobe 100 show what looks rather like Italian retro cars from the 1950s. Apparently, the design change was brought about by Jim Stokes, owner of a vintage car restoration atelier and part of the Nobe team.

The production vehicle – if it does make it into production after all – will benefit from all-wheel drive (that would be 3WD, by the way) and a traction battery positioned low in the middle of the chassis. No engine or other performance-related specifications are being disclosed to date.

The first series comprising 100 vehicles will be sold at €4,900 per vehicle. If a smaller series of only 10 vehicles gets produced, each car will cost €9,800 and above.
