American car maker Ford decided to test six generations of automobile headlights in field conditions. Gas acetylene lamps of Model T car of 1908 became the oldest "examinee". It is interesting that hundred years ago for "inclusion" of flashlights drivers had to fire them manually before a trip.
The cyclist was placed in front of the car at a distance of 12 meters at night for an experiment. Light of Model T headlights almost didn't reach the purpose, but with each generation the cyclist was visible better and better on the road . On series of photos, published by Ford, the progress of automobile optical system is already very clear.
Such models as Ford Model Y (1932), Ford Anglia 105e (1966), Ford Fiesta (1976), Ford Mondeo (1994) and modern Ford Mustang GT (2016) with xenon headlights took place in tests. As a result, the last were three times more effective than gas.
