Ford Focus and Volvo XC40 get smashed to bits

The Ford Focus hatchback and the Volvo XC40 SUV have undergone Euro NCAP crash tests. The vehicles were tested for front, side and rear collisions.

Both cars scored 5 out of 5 stars in the overall safety ranking. The association has awarded the Ford Focus 85% in adult safety, 87% in children’s safety, 72% in pedestrian safety and 75% in the efficiency of preventive safety measures.

The Volvo XC40 scored 97% in adult safety, 87% in children’s safety, 71% in pedestrian safety and 76% in prevention efficiency.

Given that both cars always ship with six airbags and a whole range of electronic driver aids, the results weren’t a big surprise to anyone. Their common basic features include traffic sign recognition, pedestrian detection, lane control and emergency brake.

After the tests were over, the company concluded that both cars were reliable and safe. The Volvo XC40 SUV additionally entered the top-5 list of world’s safest new cars.
