The contract that German Automotive Association signed with the Messe Frankfurt exposition center runs out this year, meaning that there will be no IAA Frankfurt in 2021.
The organizing committee is currently looking for a new city to relocate the show to. The initial list of candidates included Hannover, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, and Berlin, but Cologne and Hannover have been struck out since.
Aside from changing the location, the Association intends to reinvent the very concept and programme of the show to make it more meaningful for automakers and vendors.
