Next.e.GO Mobile SE, a young carmaker with headquarters in Aachen, Germany, has successfully negotiated the production of its first EV, the Life, in Lovech, Bulgaria.
The company first showed us its subcompact ride four years ago. Since then, it has revised its standard and peak engine power to 39 and 77 PS (38 and 76 hp; 29 and 57 kW), respectively. A 21.5-kWh battery should give the urban car between 125 and 171 kilometers (77 – 106 miles) of WLTP-rated range.
The car is 3,345 mm (10.97 ft.) long, 1,747 mm (5.73 ft.) wide and 1,588 mm (5.21 ft.) tall with 2,200 mm (7.22 ft.) between the axles. It has seats for four people inside, and folding the rear row expands the trunk volume from 140 to 640 liters (from 5 to 22.6 cubic feet, respectively).
An infotainment system inside offers a 6.75-inch touchscreen display and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Digital dash size remains to be announced.
Next.e.GO Mobile SE unveiled two concept cars dubbed the e.GO Life Cross and the e.GO Life Sport last February. The latter reaches 50 km/h (31 mph) in four seconds flat, making it 0.3 seconds faster than the regular e.GO model, and covers 175 km (108.7 miles) on a charge. In its production version, the company expects it to sprint in 4.4 seconds and max out at 155 km (96 miles) of range, though.
Production for the German market should begin later this month, and pre-orders have been running since June 10. The Edition Next spec will set you back €26,560.
