Gemballa announces its first-ever production supercar

Car customization shop Gemballa was founded in Germany in 1981 and gained car manufacturer status in 1985, but we are yet to see a Gemballa-branded bespoke vehicle on the road. Things may change soon, though, as the company just announced its first bespoke supercar.

Since 2010, various investors have put around €15M in Gemballa to help it gain ground and pursue new tuning projects. Another €20M has recently been secured for the development of a brand-new super sports car.

According to Steffen Korbach, CEO of the company, the mid-engine car will be ‘uncompromising’, ‘radical’, ‘pure’ and ‘luxurious’. Its engine power is expected to exceed 800 hp / 600 kW by a wide margin.

Now, we know the preview images look kinda awesome, but let us not forget that few of these ever make it into production before substantial changes and simplifications. Anyhow, Gemballa says it will be presenting the first working prototype in 2020 and hopes to launch production in 2022.
