South Korean automobile company Genesis never produced anything below the D+ size category, but it now looks like it might want to venture into the compact city car segment of the market. The Mint Concept, which the manufacturer revealed at the 2019 New York Auto Show, is a clear indication of the above.
The prototype vehicle is around four meters (13 ft.) long and only has two doors and seats. It sports an unusual trunk section: you may load and unload your items standing beside the car thanks to the dual trunk lids that you can swing open from either side.
Genesis uses genuine leather for interior upholstery and puts a small touchscreen display in the middle of the steering wheel which shows useful status information. There are also six round touch panels surrounding the steering wheel, resembling giant buttons. You may change the way the main display functions using these.
The Genesis Mint packs an all-electric powertrain rated for 322 kilometers (200 miles) of uninterrupted driving once fully charged. Its horsepower rating remains unannounced.
The company does not say just whether the compact car actually has a chance of making it into series.
