Google continues its work on completely self-driving cars. According to the last report of Department of transport of the State of California, autonomous vehicles of the Internet giant work without driver much better than cars of other companies. The government of the state admitted, that Google autopilot is the safest in the branch of automotive industry now.
Google received such positive reviews for cars of its division Waymo. In 2016, the total milleage of unmanned cars of this brand made 1 million kilometers on public roads, though the car is only at a testing stage. It is noted, that Google car drivers' need to take control of steering in their hands appeared only 124 times, only once on 8000 kilometers in average.
For comparison, Tesla cars passed only 880 kilometers with the switched-on autopilot in California last year. The need to switch to manual control mode occured every 5.6 kilometers. General Motors self-driving cars have better indicators: the total mileage during tests was 16 000 km, the driver intervention was required every 80 km in average.
