The French car manufacturer Groupe PSA has revealed a curious car concept developed by Peugeot and Citroen and intended for short-distance driving. The car comes with an unusual steering assistance feature explained below.
The prototype has a small and narrow body which houses a hybrid unit consisting of a 42-hp gasoline engine and two electric motors. Interestingly, the car runs on batteries alone at 70 km/h (45 mph) and below, and only employs its gasoline engine for when it needs to accelerate above that to a maximum of 130 km/h (80 mph). Its driving range until empty is estimated at 300 kilometers (185 miles).
The one big interesting feature of the new three-wheel vehicle is a brand new hydraulic mechanism which provides steering assistance by tilting the car body when entering turns.
