Halo grants additional protection for F1 pilots

The Formula One racing team Haas has introduced a modded F1 vehicle featuring Halo – a special safety add-on to protect the driver’s head from injury during the tournament.

The vehicle itself is named VF-18 and is a direct successor of the VF-17 – you may notice that the fin-like roof attachment is missing in this new version.

According to Gunther Steiner, top manager of the Haas team, car chassis had to be extensively re-adjusted following the installation of Halo because of the new center of mass.

This year’s Royal Race contenders from Haas are Roman Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. The same duo finished 8th at the F1 World Constructors' Championship last year. This season’s test drives begin in Barcelona, Spain on February, 26th. The F1 race starts in Australia on March 22nd, 2018.
