Italian car maker reveals cheap battery-powered racecar

An Italy-based car manufacturer Spice-X has torn the veil off of an all-electric sport car, which is named SX1 and reportedly ideal for hill climbing, slalom and classical racing. The vehicle is going to be affordable, lightweight, pretty agile and cheap to maintain.

The new Spice-X SX1 is 3,827 mm long and 1,695 mm wide. The engineers constructed the body using cheap materials to reduce the price tag.

Rumor has it that the Spice-X SX1 is driven by two rear-axle-mounted electric motors with 82 hp (61 kW) total power output. Despite such underwhelming performance on paper, the car will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 3.5 to 3.8 seconds, depending on the particular implementation. Its top speed will be limited at 210 km/h (130 mph).

In all likelihood, the new Spice-X SX1 will compete against the Turismo e Sport, another cheap racecar that weighs only 435 kg. The latter packs a rather more serious engine with 190 hp (142 kW), though, so it’s going to be a tough fight.
