KTM X-Bow GTX announced with extreme power-to-weight ratio

Austrian carmaker KTM introduced its first sports car, the X-Bow, at the 2008 Geneva IMS. Audi, Kiska Design and Dallara all took part in designing it. Twelve years later, the model receives a power-laden new version called GTX.

The original KTM X-Bow comes powered by Audi engines rated at max. 360 hp (268 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft). The new GTX packs the German marque’s signature straight-5, 2.5l turbo boosted to around 600 hp (447 kW). Given that the car itself weighs in well under one metric ton (around 2,000 lbs), its acceleration potential should prove quite extreme.

KTM intends to homologate the X-Bow GTX to enter the GT2 racing series. The model will also hit the mass market, but the production run will be strictly limited and the price tag quite high. Since the launch of the original X-Bow, only around 1,300 units was produced.
