Kandi reveals its EV lineup in the USA

Chinese automotive marque Kandi has brought two of its models – the K23 and the K27 – to the United States. The main selling point is the pricing, which starts at $9,999. Shipments won’t begin until 2021, however.

The Kandi K27 is a four-seat hatchback that you can crab for the amount specified above if you factor in the state subsidies for EVs. Take out the subsidies, and you are looking forward to spending $17,499, which suddenly isn’t nearly that attractive. The urban subcompact uses a 27hp / 20kW electric motor paired with a 17.69-kWh battery. A single charge is said to last 100 miles (161 km), and the top speed won’t exceed 60 mph (100 km/h).

The Kandi K23 is a bit pricier at $19,999, but also much more spacious. Powering it is a 67hp / 50kW motor connected to a 41.4-kWh traction battery. Single-charge mileage exceeds 186 mi (300 km), and the top speed is slightly higher at 70 mph (112 km/h).
