Karma Automotive to reveal an SUV EV at the 2019 Shanghai show

Karma Automotive, an electrified vehicle manufacturer based in California, USA, has released the first image of its concept car currently under development. The company has been designing the vehicle together with Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina and plans to reveal it at the upcoming 2019 Shanghai Motor Show.

All details about the new car are being held secret so far, but rumors say it is going to be an all-electric crossover/SUV. They also say the production car will look exactly like the concept version.

Based on the photo, the alleged off-roader sports characteristic “squinted” headlights and enormous air intakes that serve to keep the traction battery cool at all times.

Karma Automotive also intends to use the Shanghai show to unveil the next generation of its Revero hybrid sedan/saloon, as well as an all-electric design study called Vision Concept.

The Karma Revero is currently only available in the United States and Canada, but everything hints that the company wants to bring it to other markets as well. In its current implementation, the car ships with a General Motors 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine assisted by an electric motor duo. The drivetrain comes manufacturer-rated at 409 hp (305 kW) and around 80 kilometers (50 miles) of all-electric range.
