Leap Motor unveils the C-More Concept slated for production

Chinese startup company Leap Motor made its first public appearance two years ago. Last winter, it released its first car, a mini coupe called the S01, driven by a 170-hp / 127-kW electric engine and a traction battery (36 or 48 kWh, depending on the trim version). As it turns out, Leap Motor is currently working on its second production car, this time a crossover/SUV.

The manufacturer promises to keep the final version of the vehicle virtually identical to the concept, in terms of both exterior appearance and options. In particular, the car will feature an 8-inch HUD and a 15-inch multimedia display.

The new Leap Motor C-More is based on the in-house C platform designed specifically for mid-size EVs. Its drivetrain specs remain a matter of speculation, but the company assures that it will sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than five seconds and offer around 500 km (310 miles) of range once fully charged.

The car will allegedly ship with an SALE Level 3 self-drive system, upgradable to Level 4.

The concept vehicle will be exhibited at the 2019 Auto Shanghai show starting later this month, and the company says we will be able to see it in its production-ready form by the end of 2020.
