Litchfield brings the Alpine A110 on par with the Porsche 911

If you happen to have an Alpine A110 sitting in your garage, we’ve got good news for you. British car tuner Litchfield has found a way to improve the performance of the car via a simple chip tuning.

After the Stage 1 upgrade is applied, the 1.8L turbo V4 engine of the lightweight French sports vehicle goes up from its stock 248 hp (185 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lbft) of torque to the much more impressive 300 hp (224 kW) and 404 Nm (298 lbft).

According to the atelier, the engine feels completely at home with the new output figures, since they are closer to its actual design capacity. For instance, the new Renault Megane RS Trophy comes with the exact same engine producing 296 hp (221 kW).

Once upgraded, the Alpine A110 gains much in terms of acceleration dynamics, sprints faster and has noticeably less of a turbo lag. With a power-to-weight ratio of 277 hp per metric ton, its performance becomes comparable to those of supercars like the Porsche 911 Carrera S.

The entire upgrade plan costs £995. Litchfield is currently working on a Stage 2 upgrade that will include a sports exhaust system, new suspension and a limited-slip differential.
