McLaren F1 successor coming up with stronger engine and aero kit

The GMA T.50 supercar – which you may have a look at in our gallery here – is a superb achievement of its designer and McLaren F1 creator Gordon Murray, but the man won’t leave good enough alone.

This is why he announced the T.50s, a continuation of the series that weighs less, has more thrust and sports better aerodynamics. According to Murray, the new model contains hundreds of new parts. Despite this, it drops from 986 kg (2,174 lbs) to only 890 kg (1,962 lbs) of weight and gets a boost to its Cosworth V12. The road-legal GMA T.50 had between 600 and 700 horsepower (447 – 522 kilowatts), depending on the spec. The S version announced this week has between 700 and 730 hp (522 – 544 kW).

Technical improvements include a redesigned cylinder head assembly, new distribution shafts and exhaust system, higher compression ratio, and a more efficient roof scoop.

The Xtrac six-speed manual makes room for a new transmission design called Instantaneous Gearchange System (IGS). The new design can engage odd and even gears simultaneously, has revised gear ratios, and offers paddle shifters as the alternative to the conventional gear lever.

The body kit can generate up to 1.5 metric tons (3,300 lbs) of downforce. Ride height drops by another 40 mm (1.6 inches) owing to new springs and shocks, and the front anti-sway bar gains rigidity. Magnesium alloy wheels come wrapped in Michelin Cup Sport 2 tires, and carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes use six pistons at the front end and four at the rear.

The interior makes do without air conditioner, multimedia, dashboard, glove compartment and even steering wheel trim. There are only two seats inside, and the rectangular rudder houses all the necessary controls, instruments and telemetry indicators.

In addition to their car, all owners will be getting the full Trackspeed package including training programs and track day technical support. Assorted body colors and liveries are available. The GMA T50.s emerges in a batch of 25 units starting in the first quarter of 2023. Prices are unknown.
