German engineers invented
outdoor airbags for pedestrians. They will be installed in the area of the
front pillars of the body and contribute to reducing injuries to a person when
a car collides with it.
The technology will work as
follows: at the time of the accident, the airbag closes the body and the
windshield and at that moment the already used hood lifting system will work.
Thanks to these actions, the blow will become milder and the consequences of
the accident for the pedestrian will be less significant.
Considering the fact that
the application to the US patent office for the registration of this technology
was filed by the German company in 2015, and published only now, we can expect
that soon serial cars of the brand have every chance to get this option in
standard equipment.
Official information from
crash tests, proving the effectiveness of this invention yet.
