Trousdale Ventures has purchased the car business of Bruce Meyers, 94, and his wife Winnie Meyers, to revive the iconic Meyers Manx beach buggy model.
The original vehicle was based on a shortened Volkswagen Beetle platform. Meyers had produced around 6,000 units in 1964 through 1971, and launched a strictly limited continuation series in 2000 – 2012, producing such spinoffs as the Manxter DualSport and the Manxter 2+2.
The new company is called Meyers Manx, LLC, and it will soon resume the production of the buggy based on a RWD Volkswagen chassis. The investor claims the new cars will be every bit as affordable and simply designed as their predecessors, while being part-electric and much safer to drive.
