The British car manufacturer Morgan has chosen to celebrate the 50th birthday of its Plus 8 retro car by releasing a limited special edition of the legendary roadster. Only 50 vehicles equipped with classical naturally-aspirated engines will make it into production after the Geneva show debut.
You may remember that the Morgan Plus 8 has an aluminum-alloy chassis and weighs around 1,100 kilograms (2,425 lbs.). It is powered by a 4.7L V8 atmospheric engine developed by BMW which can produce up to 372 hp and 490 Nm of torque. It can accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.5 seconds and peaks out at just under 250 km/h (155 mph).
The first Morgan Plus 8 prototype debuted at a motor show in Great Britain as early as 1968. The car used to be manufactured until 2004 when Rover V8 engines dropped out of production.
