Nine weeks ago, Netherlandish tuner team De Bunker-Crew found this ancient 1973 Trabant 601 at a junkyard and decided to restore it to its former glory – and perhaps beyond. More precisely, they set off to make it into an award-winning vehicle.
Only three enthusiasts carried out the so-called “Project 601”. The retro car gained a new body, a low-ride suspension, a set of aluminum wheels, a sports exhaust system with a single center pipe, and tinted windows.
It is still inside that most of the real changes took place. There are countless satellite speakers scattered throughout the entire cabin, massive subwoofers sitting in the trunk area and infotainment displays built into the headrests. Have you ever seen anything like this at all?
The main goal of the project was to build a retro show car that would participate in such car audio shows as EMMA, dBdrag-Racing, and Propper-Dropper. And we’re told it has already scored its first awards!
