New Borgward BX6 pre-orders now available in China

A new Borgward BX6 crossover/coupe jointly developed by German and Chinese engineers can be pre-ordered right now starting at what amounts to U.S. $28,700.

The new vehicle utilizes the same architecture as the Borgward BX5, albeit with slightly altered dimensions. Specifically, the BX6 is 4,601 mm (179.7”) long, 1,656 mm (64.7”) tall and has 18.4 cm (7.2”) of road clearance. It is otherwise identical in size to its antecedent.

Compared to the concept vehicle revealed as early as 2016, it has a new radiator grille and a differently styled front bumper with vertical LED stripes in the headlamps – and that would be about it.

In terms of the powertrain, the car always ships with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of 224 hp (167 kW) coupled with a DSG box.

The all-wheel-driven crossover/coupe will enter the market in China in two trim versions to choose between. The base version will offer a stop-start system, a cruise control unit, an infotainment system with a touchscreen display, airbags, parking assistance, rear view camera, ESC and 17-inch wheels. In this specification, the Borgward BX6 will cost you U.S. $28,700 as long as it’s a pre-order. The top trim costs U.S. 31,000 for 19-inch wheels, a panoramic view camera system, a tire pressure monitoring system, warmed-up seats and head curtain airbags. A night-vision system is separately available.
