Photos of the series-ready Hongqi E-HS3 crossover vehicle have recently been uploaded to the database of China’s Ministry of Industry and IT. In case you forgot, Hongqi is part of FAW, China’s longest-standing automotive manufacturing group.
The concept version of the car debuted at the recent 2018 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The production vehicle hardly differs from it, except for maybe the new dark blue fog lamp accents and two new radiator grille designs, one featuring vertical chrome-coated fins and the other with fins arranged in a Y-pattern.
According to an unofficial source, the crossover will get two engines to select between. The base model will ship with an electric engine good for 155 hp (115 kW) and a traction battery, whereas the top specification will get two such engines. There likely won’t be any gasoline options available.
First vehicles will enter the market before the end of the year, with prices still unannounced.
The E-HS3 is Hongqi’s first-ever crossover vehicle in history. The company used to specialize in executive cars, limousines and heavy off-road cars.
