A limited series of the new Hongqi L5 stretch limos, only 100 copies of which will ever be produced, has made its way to the showrooms in China.
Curiously, despite the fact that the vehicle is already available for purchase, its official presentation ceremony lacked the actual car. Instead of that the audience was shown pictures of the new Hongqi L5 wearing various color schemes available via the company’s catalog.
The strongest Government Edition of the limo comes equipped with a six-liter V12 which can output up to 402 hp and accelerate the vehicle to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 10.2 seconds. These will only be made available to the government authorities, however. The regular Hongqi L5 Limited Edition gets a four-liter turbocharged V8 rated at 375 hp. It achieves the abovementioned speed in just 9.3 seconds.
No price information has been revealed concerning the new stretch limo, but an insider source claims it would begin at hefty U.S. $920,000.
