New pic of the Polestar 2 EV goes live

Polestar, once Volvo’s in-house customization shop but now a standalone brand dedicated to electrified cars, has released a new teaser photo showing its model No. 2, an all-electric fastback with 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) under the hood.

Based on the photo, the four-door vehicle will get narrow brake lights tied together with a LED strip likely also acting as a brake signal.

The car will also benefit from an advanced infotainment system and voice assistant, like Alexa.

No further details are being revealed about the powertrain right now, except that it produces 400 hp (298 kW) and offers a driving range of around 480 kilometers (300 miles).

Once out in the market, the Polestar 2 will mainly have to compete with the Tesla Model 3, which currently sells for U.S. $44,000 and above. Poleastar will offer a choice between buying the car straight away and subscribing to it on a monthly basis.

The existing Polestar lineup also includes a two-door hybrid model with a carbon-fiber body. However, the company no longer plans to release hybrids, instead preferring to switch completely to all-electric models.
