Chinese car manufacturer Nio has premiered its first all-electric sedan/saloon, called the ET Preview, at the 2019 Auto Shanghai show. As you may have guessed from the name, the car is still in its early concept stage, but the company says it wants to bring it into production eventually.
Nio promises to show us the production-ready sample before the end of 2020. It claims the car will be a worthy market rival of the Tesla Model 3, with which it shares the fastback body style, the slide-out door handle design, and the smooth LED headlights.
The Nio ET Preview comes equipped with two electric engines (one per axle) connected to a lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide battery, essentially a rarer and more sophisticated form of lithium-ion battery. The drivetrain produces 295 horsepower (220 kilowatts), and the car offers ca. 500 km (310 miles) of range once charged to the max.
The remaining technical specs remain undisclosed at the moment.
