Fresco Motors, a car company established in Trondheim, Norway, has opened pre-orders for its brand-new all-electric supercar called the Reverie. Not much has been revealed about the model to date except for a few 3D renderings, as it is still under development.
The startup claims the Fresco Reverie will offer an ‘impressive’ driving range, but refrains from quoting any concrete numbers. The horsepower rating is also a big question mark, although the company says the supercar should be able to sprint from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) in two seconds flat and top out at 300 km/h (186 mph). Allegedly, a four-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive gear will be used to send the power to the wheels, which is strange considering that EVs generally avoid using transmission altogether.
Charging the battery from zero to full will take a few hours, and a portable extra battery will be provided as a paid option. Wireless charging will be possible, and clients will benefit from an opportunity to replace individual worn-out battery cells with fresh ones, rather than having to replace the entire battery.
Authorities in Norway are actively discussing a complete ban on internal combustion engines used in land transports. EV owners already get preferential treatment in the country, including dedicated free parking areas, permission to drive in the bus lanes, and VAT/transport tax exemptions.
Just when the Fresco Reverie celebrates its premiere as a finished vehicle and goes into actual production remains unknown.
