Pininfarina S.p.A., a coachbuilder, has built a special version of its Battista hypercar dedicated to 500 years from the death of Leonardo da Vinci. Nick Heidfeld and Nico Rosberg, famous retired Formula One pilots, participated in the reveal event.
The main distinguishing feature of the car comes in the form of an unusual livery that combines white, red, and marine shades.
Speaking at the reveal, company’s chief designer Luca Borgogno pointed out that ‘Leonardo da Vinci, a true Italian genius, was the first man in history to bring art, design, and engineering together.’
The original Pininfarina Battista debuted this spring at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The company designed the vehicle with assistance from Croatia-based hypercar builder Rimac. Powered by four electric engines jointly rated at 1,900 hp (1,417 kW) and 2,300 Nm (1,700 lb×ft) of torque, it hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in two seconds flat and only needs 12 seconds to surpass the 300 km/h (186 mph) mark. The top speed in a straight line amounts to 350 km/h (217 mph).
