Against the background of news about sales opportunity of Opel assets to French by Americans, there was information that the brand soon will cease to assemble petrol and diesel cars, having completely concentrated on production of electrocars. At present Opel is going to sell the electric Ampera-E car, which is a brother of Chevrolet Bolt EV.
It is supposed, that Opel will fully refuse from cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) after expansion of a line by 2030. Most likely, the decision is connected with the fact that the company ,now having not the best times, will have no resources for parallel developments of the models with essentially different power plants. And the management of Opel considers electrocars more perspective direction in automotive industry. However, it is still not clear, whether these plans turn into reality after possible change of owners.
