Pininfarina strikes a deal with Karma Automotive

Karma Automotive, a U.S.-based company that belongs to the Chinese Wanxiang Group Corporation, has signed a cooperation agreement with the famous Italian coachbuilder and tuner Pininfarina.

The agreement has been signed as part of the Value-Forward strategy plan that provides for the promotion of such technologies as electrified drivetrains, AI-based automotive systems, etc. The strategy includes a separate paragraph dedicated to finding new partners that would contribute their innovative R&D. BlackBerry was the first such partner company, followed by Pininfarina.

Although, as a matter of fact, Karma Automotive has been dealing with the Italian company for quite a long time prior to signing the agreement. One proof of that is that their first jointly designed car model debuts this spring. No details are given, but everything indicated that it is going to be the next-generation Karma Revero. Lance Zhou, the CEO of Karma, said we should be able to see the second generation of the hybrid car at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.

Karma-branded vehicles are currently only being sold in the USA and Canada.
