Prodrive is a company that mainly specializes in the development of racecars and rally cars. This makes the fact that it plans to build an amphibious vehicle – like the Watercar Panther – all the more interesting.
According to the CEO of Prodrive, several employees have already begun working on the project. If everything goes as planned, the result would look like a hybrid between a boat and a mini-SUV.
The vehicle will be powered by a diesel engine, which will enable it to swim underwater at a maximum of 55 km/h (34 mph). Ground speed is not being discussed at this point.
If Prodrive actually does release a water car, its cost will likely surpass U.S. $190,000.
