Qoros, Chinese car manufacturer recently acquired by the Baoneng Group, has been getting much more luck selling its cars lately. Sales in January through May 2018 have soared 360% compared to the same period a year before, exceeding 23,750.
Inspired by this surge of public interest, the manufacturer has pledged to increase production volumes, now shipping 100,000 cars per year instead of 80,000. The company is prepared to raise it further to 120,000 cars should the market demand prove still higher.
A Qoros spokesperson also said that the company is going to introduce a new full-electric or hybrid vehicle model on the market every 12 months. The first of these is going to be the Qoros 3 EV sedan, which is going to celebrate its premiere at the Guangzhou International Motor Show 2018 late this autumn. Its concept version debuted two years ago at the Beijing show. The all-electric vehicle accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds and can travel up to 700 kilometers (435 miles) on a single charge.
All of the above might sound overly ambitious, but it is actually pretty realistic. The company will be receiving investment in excess of 7,000,000,000 USD for these purposes. It is going to complement its MILE family with new EVs such as crossovers, minivans, and even a coupe. The two-door coupe named Qoros Mile 1 is going to be the first to enter the market, offering 3.6s standard acceleration time and 600 km / 373 mi driving range.
