The Medieval One is a clinically insane hot rod from a techno fantasy tale

The car-themed media all around the world have once again unearthed this doubtlessly unique and memorable tuner car with 1,000 horsepower under the hood. The vehicle was actually completed over a year ago, but we think it is worth reminding everyone just how far some tuning projects can go.

Bohata Design Inc. was responsible for making the inimitable hot rod with a cabin shaped like a knight’s helmet. The sheer scope and complexity of the project are astonishing: the chassis alone was cut with lasers and welded into shape with the assistance of tungsten electrodes and inert gas. A propane tank sawn apart and riveted together to form the cockpit. The suspension features a drop axle with radius rods and mono-leaf springs at the front end and air cushions at the rear.

Propelling the Medieval One – which reminds us more of a siege machine than a road vehicle – is a 5.5-liter Chevrolet V8 rated close to 1,000 hp (745 kW). Responsible for the crazy output are a Weiand 6-71 supercharger and a nitrous oxide system, among other things. The sidepipes shaped like snakes are used as purge tubes for the NOS and also render the entire thing even more surreal than it otherwise would be.

The tuner has reportedly invested around $200,000 into the project. The single most impressive fact for us here at FormaCar is that the hot rod passed inspection and was found road-legal in the United States.
