The Polestar 2 EV is another Tesla killer wannabe

Polestar, a standalone company founded by Volvo and dedicated to all-electric vehicles, has announced the sales start of its fastback model, the Polestar 2. The car comes with a minimum price tag of €39,900 and is marketed as a worthy rival of the Tesla Model 3.

For the first 12 months since the launch, however, the Polestar 2 will only be available in its top-spec version called “Launch Edition” that costs €59,900.

The car uses Volvo’s CMA platform and comes equipped with two electric motors together capable of 408 hp (304 kW). It needs less than five seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill, and can travel up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) once fully charged.

The Polestar 2 features a multimedia system with an 11-inch touchscreen display, a digital dashboard, a sunroof, Pixel LED headlights, and a virtual key token that you could use to get concierge services.

The optional Performance package adds Brembo performance brakes with gold-tinted calipers, Öhlins shocks, and a set of exclusive 20-inch wheels.

The company will soon announce subscription prices for the Polestar 2, so stay tuned!
