Rivian has accidentally leaked a video demonstrating a unique feature of its upcoming all-electric pickup truck, the R1T. Apparently, the car can turn its wheels in any direction you need while remaining in the same spot, like tanks and other track machines do.
The video was subsequently deleted, but you can still watch the official teaser to get a general idea about the truck.
In all probability, this was an actual leakage and not a fake. In fact, Rivian even patented features “Tank Turn” and “Tank Steer” last year. Now we know what those names meant.
Another interesting feature of the Rivian R1T is its ability to share its battery charge with other same-model pickups.
The original concept car debuted at the last year’s LA show. It came powered by four electric motors jointly rated at 760 hp (567 kW) and 1,120 Nm (825 pound-feet) of torque. The standard sprint time from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) was three seconds flat.
The sales launch is scheduled for 2020. Simultaneously with the pickup, Rivian will be launching a seven-seat SUV, the R1S.
