The Switzerland-based automotive manufacturer Micro Mobility Systems has officially introduced a four-wheel modification of its Microlino super-compact car. The vehicle, which is mass-market ready and should become available in spring, resembles the iconic BMW Isetta.
Being only 2,435 millimeters long and 1,500 millimeters wide (that’s 95” * 58.5”) and weighing less than 450 kilograms (>1,000 lbs.), it is really a very small car. It is therefore all the more surprising how the manufacturer managed to give it a 300-liter trunk compartment.
The main feature that makes the new Microlino so similar to the BMW Isetta is its front door with built-in steering wheel. It gets an electric engine and two battery options: 8 kWh for the maximum driving range of 120 kilometers (75 miles), and 14.4 kWh for 215 km (134 mi). It can accelerate 0-50 km/h (0-31 mph) in 5 seconds and peaks out at 90 km/h (56 mph).
Micro Mobility Systems claims it has sold over 4,500 copies of Microlino in pre-orders starting at €12,000.
