True Cousins TC-X sets new absolute record in drag racing

The True Cousins TC-X all-electric racing coupe has set a new world record in drag racing by completing a quarter-mile race in 7.98 seconds. NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Association) gave it the Best Time award in the eXtreme Street category.

True Cousins is a company with primary specialization in the production of lithium-ion cells, but its founders often spend their free time designing and building all-electric cars.

The True Cousins TC-X coupe is a near-complete re-engineering of a relatively little-known Eagle SS racecar. The engineer team has reworked its chassis and replaced the entire bodywork.

The initial, 1,200hp / 895kW version of the car was complete three years ago. An update changing the way engine control units worked was released later, resulting in a performance increase to 1,600 hp / 1,193 kW. According to a representative of the company, the vehicle needs barely more than one second to blast off to 100 km/h (60 mph).

The company plans to further improve its two-door TC-X hypercar and ultimately set a new absolute record in all-electric drag racing.
