Ultra-rare Spyker C8 goes up on sale in the USA

The 14th out of 24 total Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 sports cars produced is up for sale right now, and the betting has reached U.S. $277,000 so far with some time still remaining.

The coupe was made eleven years ago, but the manufacturer held onto it until 2015, when an anonymous buyer from Russia purchased it. He later imported in into the USA and sold it last year. With only 1,200 km (745 miles) on the clock, the vehicle was obviously regarded a collector’s piece, rather than a daily driver.

Netherlands-based company Spyker unveiled the C8 Laviolette supercar two decades ago, giving it a nearly all-aluminum body and dual-wishbone suspension based on Koni and Eibach components. Power comes from a 4.2-liter Audi V8 rated at 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. A Getrag six-speed manual box drives the wheels through a Drexler differential.

The LM85 version (see video) premiered in 2009 as an homage to Spyker endurance racers. As such, it wore a black-and-orange livery reminiscent of that of the Spyker Squadron GT2, as well as the number 85 – the Le Mans number of the Spyker racing team.
