The Chinese car manufacturer GAC Motor is busy preparing an update for its GS4 crossover series. Several photos of the vehicle are already here for everyone to see, and the big premiere is coming in early June.
The original GAC GS4 debuted on the Chinese market in 2015 to quickly earn the reputation of a best-seller. Over the past two years, its annual sales numbers went up from 326 to 337 thousand units – an impressive achievement for a China-only car that costs a hefty U.S. $15,500 in its base version.
Based on what we have seen on the official and spy photos so far, the newcomer features new bumpers with boomerang lights, LED lighting throughout, a multi-function steering wheel, a thoroughly revised dashboard and a larger central display.
The car now also utilizes a brand-new platform which supports turbocharged gasoline engines between 1.3 and 1.5 liters large. Their performance lies between 137 and 152 hp (102 – 113 kW), depending on the modification. Transmission options include 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DCT.
GAC Motor has made it clear that it wants to eventually expand onto the international market. It has recently founded a subsidiary, the ambitiously named “Motor International Company”, which will represent GAC Motor in 18 countries outside of China.
