Wey teases new concept car for the Shanghai show

Car manufacturer Wey has released the first images of its upcoming vehicle that it intends to introduce at the 2019 Auto Shanghai show.

Based on these, the car is styled differently from the brand's latest VV6 and VV7. There is no traditional radiator grille to be seen, which might be an indication of its all-electric nature. Then there are Wey's  trademark side view cameras instead of mirrors, and rear-hinged doors with concealed handles.

The display car also boasts large backlit wheels, but we likely won't be seeing those in the production version.

There is no official information available right now, but Chinese automotive media tend to agree that the new car is a flagship SUV similar to the Haval H8. Then again, the marque already has a flagship in the same category: the Wey P8 hybrid.

It looks like the company is building a cross between an SUV and a minivan with a sedan-like rear. The engine specs are likely not something we will learn before the official premiere at least. What we do know, though, is that Wey wants to take the model to other markets outside of China.
