Revived AC Cobra GT Roadster gets a fixed-top counterpart

UK-based company AC Cars is celebrating its 123th birthday this year, and will be releasing a series of exclusive Cobra GT Coupes to commemorate the occasion. The car is still under drapes, but it will be fully revealed in spring and you can already leave a preorder.

According to the manufacturer, the coupe runs on the same chassis as the Cobra GT Roadster revealed back in 2023 (in the rest of the gallery and the video here). It has similar tech specs and features an opulent handcrafted interior. The non-removable roof is pretty much the coupe’s only major difference from the droptop.

By design, the sports car is a lightweight, RWD vehicle built around an aluminum space-frame with a carbon-fiber body. It is noticeably larger than the classic AC Cobra hailing back to the 1960s, but has the same overall proportions and outlines. The drivers will appreciate such modern create comforts as ABS, ESP, LED-based lighting all around, four drive modes and an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display.

The modern Cobra comes equipped with a five-liter V8. In its naturally aspirated version, it produces 460 PS (454 hp / 338 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. Adding a supercharger bumps the output to 663 PS (654 hp / 488 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft).

These two versions sprint 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.5 and 3.4 seconds, respectively. The top speed is capped at 250 and 278 km/h (155 and 172 mph), respectively. Regardless of whether you opt for the supercharger or not, you can choose between six-speed manual and ten-speed automatic for the transmission.

Prices for the resurrected AC Cobra GT Roadster start at £240,000 in the UK ($307,600 in U.S. dollars). The coupe version announced this week has no pricing details yet.
