Acura, Honda’s premium vehicle sub-brand in the USA and Canada, is currently working on a new car model it refers to as the Type S. Judging by the short teaser vid, it could be a sedan/saloon based on the Acura TLX chassis. As such, it is possible that the Type S is just a design study meant to conceptualize the next-gen TLX.
Honda acquired the rights for the name ‘TLX Type S’ three years ago. Up until now, it has used ‘Type S’ to denote sported-up versions of its cars. Now that a standalone vehicle premiered under the same name, though, it might get a stronger engine, as well as sportier brakes and suspension. Whether it also gets Acura’s signature SH-AWD system remains uncertain.
The concept car will be exhibited at the Monterey Car Week on August 15, 2019.
