Race-winning Acura fails to sell for $563k

The online auction for the unique Acura ARX-05 DPi organized by Honda Performance Development ended with 42 total participants and a top bid of U.S. $563,000, which the company deemed insufficient.

The racecar runs on Oreca chassis and belongs to the Daytona Prototype International class. It participated in ten IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar races in this year’s season alone, scoring three pole positions and four victories. Its 3.5-liter V6 conforms to all regulations and churns out 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) in tandem with an Xtrac eight-speed sequential transmission. The mileage is rather moderate at 11,000 miles (17,700 km).

Commenting on the sale, a representative of Honda Performance Development said the company would be contacting the winning bidder and discussing the deal further, so it might yet succeed after some haggling.
