Acura had already started selling its Honda Civic-based Integra revival in North America, but the first cars have only just rolled off the lines of the Marysville Auto Plant, Marysville. The first examples will reach showrooms in early June, the company says.
The sports car is being made on the same production line as the Acura TLX, but the line was upgraded and all staff had to be re-trained before production. New equipment also had to be purchased.
Honda makes the car’s 1.5-liter turbo in another location, the Anna Plant in Shelby District, Ohio. The four-cylinder mill makes slightly over 200 PS (200 hp / 150 kW).
Prices for the new Integra start from $31,895, while $36,895 buys you an A-Spec with manual transmission instead of CVT. According to dealerships, around 70 percent of customers settle for the A-Spec despite the premium.
