The Acura Integra liftback will soon be getting a high-end modification called the Type S, and these images offer an early look at it.
The five-door car will come equipped with a two-liter turbo mill and a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, but the drive will stay on the front axle, the manufacturer says.
Despite the camo, the images reveal what looks like a more sophisticated body kit with a pronounced front bumper sporting larger air intakes, a different cross bar, a trunk lid spoiler and a large rear diffuser.
Also visible are three tailpipes grouped at the middle of the rear bumper like on the latest Honda Civic Type R, although the hot hatch has a larger central tip.
In all likelihood, the Type R will also provide the engine for the Integra Type S. Acura says the two-liter, four-cylinder engine will produce more than 300 horsepower, but refrains from going into specifics. The hot hatch offers up to 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW) depending on the market. It is quite possible that the carmaker will want to dial down the output on the Integra to let the Type R retain its flagship status.
The sales will begin next summer. As of right now, buyers of the Acura Integra (see video) can only get it with a 1.5-liter turbo engine of the regular Honda Civic, which is rated at 203 PS (200 hp / 149 kW). Manual transmission is available exclusively in the range-topping A-Spec.
