4th-gen Acura MDX crops up in a teaser vid

Acura has shared a short video featuring the upcoming fourth generation of its MDX crossover SUV, along with the concept car reveal date: October 14, 2020.

The footage reveals the shoulder line of the car and its LED-based headlights. Other than this, we now know the main tech specs. The entry-level trim comes equipped with the 276-hp (206-kW), 380-Nm (280-lb*ft) engine of the compact-sized RDX model. It has a ten-speed automatic transmission design and SH-AWD. Performance-oriented MDX Type S should emerge a couple years later packing the 3.0-liter V6 turbo (360 hp / 268 kW, 480 Nm / 356 lb-ft) of the latest TLX Type S sedan.

The third-gen Acura MDX has been in production for six years now. Its new version measures 4,984 × 1,974 × 1,712 mm L/W/H and has 2,820 mm of wheelbase. The company calls it its new flagship, coming to dethrone the NSX Coupe and RLX sedan.

The MDX is the marque’s single most popular model in the United States, being responsible for one-third of its 1,000,000+ total sales over the past two decades.
