Car tuner Vivid Racing has released what it claims to be the first-ever power kit for the Acura NSX hybrid supercar. This is likely justified, unless you count a custom valve-controlled exhaust system released earlier by FI Exhaust.
Still, an exhaust system alone isn’t a game-changer, while a proper chip tuning definitely is.
In its production version, the Acura NSX ships with a hybrid engine consisting of a twin-turbo V6 and three electric motors. It has a manufacturer-rated output of 581 hp (433 kW).
Once upgraded, it gains 105 hp for a grand total of 686 hp (512 kW). The torque simultaneously rises from 645 Nm (476 pound-feet) to 811 Nm (598 lb-ft). As a result, the car accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.7 seconds instead of the standard 2.9s.
